Inspire Your Budding Pianist with a Schoenhut My First Piano {Giveaway}

One thing that I have learned as a parent is the fact that I took my parents for granted.  I never realized everything that went into raising a family.  Growing up my parents always went above and beyond the call of duty.  They did everything from playing cab driver to volunteering at school functions (and everything in between).

I remember so vividly as a child going to piano lessons during the summer, the lessons were fun, it was the practice at home I didn’t like.  I wish that I would have realized the opportunity they were giving me instead of thinking ‘why is she making me do this.’    Part of my problem was, I had never been exposed to any type of musical instrument until that summer.  I believe that if I would have been introduced to it when I was very little, I would have grown up loving it.

With the Schoenhut  18 Key My First Piano now you can introduce your baby to a musical instrument before they even begin to walk.   We received the precious red toy piano and my children were thrilled.  As you can see from the picture they were both playing on it at the same time.  It is the perfect height for both of my children to sit on the floor and play it.  Although no one in my family can play a tune we have had fun trying to play a song.   My First Piano comes with Schoenhut’s play-by-color teaching method and comes with removable color strips that fit behind the keys to guide your little one’s fingers from chord to chord.  Also included is a Songbook containing some of your favorite tunes.

The learning system is designed to make learning fun and simple.  I have to admit, I think I had just as much fun as the children did trying to play different songs.  The width of the keys are specifically design to encourage the correct finger placement to make transition from the My First Piano to a large piano.  With Christmas right around the corner, this would make a perfect gift for that special youngster in your life.  The Schoenhut 18 Key My First Piano retails for $55-65.

Soothe Baby’s Skin with Gentle Naturals {Giveaway}

Fall is fast approaching us and for my daughter the cooler weather means her eczema is going to get worse.  This is around the time of year that I start preparing her skin for the harsh winter weather.  I have tried countless washes, lotions and creams and nothing really seems to work.  A few weeks ago we started using the Gentle Naturals Eczema Relief Cream and Wash which has recently won the Parent Tested Parent Approved Winner’s Seal from North America’s largest volunteer parent testing community.

The Eczema Wash is so easy to use, simply put a couple of caps full of the wash into your child’s bath water.   The wash has left my daughter’s skin smooth and moist and she is not scratching, because there is very little dry, itchy skin.   The best part the wash is all natural and contains aloe and vitamins D and E.

We have also been using the Gentle Naturals Eczema Relief Cream religiously.  In the past I have hated to put the eczema cream on arms and legs, because it was so thick and greasy.  The cream goes on more like a lotion, and does not leave my little one looking like a grease ball.  Also, it doesn’t have a medicine smell that is common with other creams.  The cream has definitely cleared up most of her eczema but more importantly, it has stopped any new spots from forming so far.  The cream helps to stop the itch and keep skin moist.

Also available is Gentle Naturals Tummy Soother which promotes healthy digestion and is formulated to sooth stomach discomfort of babies and young children.  Tummy Soothers is all natural and includes ingredients such as ginger that have been a home remedy for generations. Gentle Naturals® Cradle Cap Treatment is specially formulated to help remove crusty flakes and moisturize baby’s scalp. Its light non-greasy formula is made with natural ingredients: calendula and Vitamin D.  There is also a gentle massaging brush to help rid your little one of that annoying cradle cap.

Lastly, Gentle Naturals Homepathic Teething Drops help to relieve that dreaded teething.  I hate to give  my children medicine unless I know for sure what is wrong, and a lot of times you aren’t sure if they are teething or just having a bad night.  The teething drops have a good taste and come in liquid form which makes it easy to give your little one.  With its all natural ingredients it will calm your little one an relieve the pain.

The JJ Cole Satchel Bag Organized My Life {Giveaway}

A few weeks ago as my family prepared for our evacuation from Hurricane Isaac I was trying to figure you how to pack for my baby girl.  I then remembered I had just received the JJ Cole Collections Satchel Bag and it couldn’t have come at a better time.  The entire time we were on ‘hurrication’ I was able to find everything I needed without having to dig or take 10 things out to find just one.  The satchel is so spacious, that I was able to fit everything she needed for 3 days, including sippy cups, clothes, diapers, wipes, medicine and lots more.

What I love about the JJ Cole Satchel is there is a place for everything, I was able to reach into the bag and grab exactly what I need.  The interior is extremely spacious and consists of 4 large pockets big enough to hold several diapers in one pocket.  There is also a coordinating changing pad that comes with the bag which folds up nicely and fits into one of the pockets.

On the outside of the bag you will find 7 (yes, I said 7) pockets.  My favorite pockets are on the side which I have been using for sippy cups.  You don’t have to worry about the cups spilling all over the inside of the bag, this way the cup is right side up and easy to locate.  There are two different straps on the bag, one for over the shoulder and one for across the chest, which makes it great when trying to round up two toddlers.  While I love everything about this bag, I have to say the stroller attachments take the cake.  Usually my diaper bag is so big that when I go shopping it takes up the entire basket underneath the stroller and leaves no room for packages that I purchase.  You simply hook on the stroller attachment and the bag hangs right there on the back, not only does it free up space in the bottom, it is easy to find what you are looking for since you don’t have to crawl under the stroller to look for that favorite toy out of the bag.

This diaper bag would make a great shower gift and should be on every mother-to-be’s registry.  The faux leather satchel retails for $89.95 while the canvas bag is just $69.95.  To check out this bag in action, watch this video then enter to win your own JJ Cole Satchel below!

Classic Raggedy Ann and Andy are Back at Aurora Gifts {Giveaway}

Sometimes I wish that there were more toys out there like the toys I had when I was a kid.  Now that my daughter is getting a little bit older, the world of dolls has entered my life.  Walking down the doll aisle a few days ago, I couldn’t believe some of the things that these modern dolls can do.  Cry, wet, eat, talk…you name it and you can find a ‘real life’ doll that does it.

Whatever happened to using your imagination? I was thrilled when I found out that  Aurora was coming out with a brand new line of the classic favorites, Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy.  Now an entire new generation can have pretend play with Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy just like when I was a kid.

The dolls are such a high quality because they are all handmade by Aurora.  Even though my daughter is a little young for pretend play, she still loves Raggedy Ann.  She decided to put her Ann in the ‘stroller’ and take her for a ride around grandma’s house.  Unlike most ‘stuffed dolls,’ I don’t have to worry about Raggedy Ann falling apart if she gets dropped, stepped on or dragged around where ever we go.

Classic Ann and Andy come in 4 sizes 8”, 12”, 16” and 25” and range from $10-$35.  The Fancy Pals style are 7” in a purse and are $17.  There will be four more 16” styles just in time for the holidays including  Chilly Chic, Santa’s Helper in both Raggedy Andy and Ann, they will retail around $27 each. FREE Shipping on orders over $50 is going on now through August 31st, 2012.  Simply use promo code: YooHoo12

Give Your Kids a Boost with the Go Anywhere Booster Seat {Giveaway}

It seems like every time we are invited to a family gathering or party my daughter needs to eat.  Getting a one year old to sit still long enough to take a bite of food is quite a challenge.  Unfortunately, most places we go aren’t equipped for a little one with a high chair.  If this has ever happened to you, it is time to get a Go Anywhere Booster Seat.

A Parent Company has a new and improved gender neutral booster now available.  The new seat is a must have for anyone with a toddler.  This past weekend we were invited to a bridal shower and I was so nervous that my daughter was going to break one of the gifts.  I brought the booster with me and I was so happy that I did.   I easily strapped it on the chair next to me and she was able to sit with all of the grownups and eat with no mess.  The best part was while the bride was opening her gifts my daughter wasn’t running around.  Not only is the booster good for a party, it is perfect for restaurants, grandma’s house and even home.

The new gender neutral booster has two thick straps to keep it in place so it is easy to install and remove.   There is also a five point harness that keeps your little ones secure while you enjoy your meal.  My very active one year old was more secure in this booster than any restaurant style highchair.  If your little one spills, all you need to do is wipe the booster with a wet cloth and it is good as new.  The booster folds for portability, it even has a strap so that you can carry it on your shoulder.  It is so light weight you won’t even realize you have it!

Another great new feature is the large pocket on the outside when folded which is perfect for bibs, wipes, food, diapers and anything else you need to bring into a restaurant. For just $39.99, the Go Anywhere Booster will travel with me where ever I go. For more information visit A Parent Company’s Website.

Quality Toys Delivered to Your Home with Little Pnuts {Giveaway}

Why waste your time walking around your local toy store trying to figure out what to buy for your child that would not only be fun and educational, but still age appropriate. Little Pnuts, which is based right here in New Orleans, has a great program which will keep you out of those dreaded toy stores for good.  Little Pnuts delivers three to five new toys in every package to your doorstep four times a year.  The toys are organic, ecologically friendly and made from natural materials.  There are no bells and whistles; these unique toys allow your children to use their imagination.  The toys help with developing things such as motor skills, hand-eye coordination and help with focus and concentration.

Since Little Pnuts hand picks all of the toys you will only receive high quality and unique toys for your child’s specific age group from birth all the way to age five. When you subscribe, Little Pnuts collects information about your child and fits them into the correct category: infant 0-12m, toddler 1-3 years or preschool 3-5 years of age.  In addition to receiving toys four times a year you can always add on holiday and birthday themed delivery and just because deliveries to make your little one feel special.

My children were so excited to see some new toys when our package came the other day, and I was happy for some new entertainment. We received four toys in our shipment from the toddler category.   Because I have a one and a three year old, this was a perfect fit!

The first toy was a three dimensional puzzle with all of your favorite zoo animals.  The pieces were sturdy and were the perfect size for my 18 month old’s little hands.   The next product is actually three toys in one, the book “A Pet for Laura” is a book, puzzle and board game all in one.

We also received Twist and Turnables which were my favorite.  This toy consisted of all wood painted shapes that screw into one another, my daughter quickly got the hang of putting them together and trying to screw them just like her brother.  This product will definitely enhance her fine motor skills.  The last toy was the Alphabet Cards which my son was super excited about since he loves to spell and is learning to read.  Each card has the letter and word on the front and a picture of the object on the back.  This will help with his word recognition and reading skills.

I have to say that my favorite thing about all of these toys is that there are no gimmicks with them and they encourage my children to use their imagination unlike many other toys on the market today.  I think this would make a great Christmas or Birthday present for that special child or grandchild in your life, instead of receiving one big gift once a year, the gift of Little Pnuts keeps giving all year long!  There are two payment options which include an annual subscription ($240 one time payment) or a monthly plan ($25 monthly) which both include the four special delivers per year. You can subscribe at  and end your trips to the toy store today!

We are happy to provide one of our readers one shipment of Little Pnuts toys in their selected age category!  Enter below!

Beat the Summer Heat with Certain Dri {Giveaway}

Well, it is officially summer down here in the deep south and boy is it HOT!  My husband wears a full suit everyday and walks several blocks to work in this 100 degree weather.  By the time he arrives at his workplace is dripping in sweat.  Nothing is more embarrassing than running a meeting and everyone seeing the wet spots on your shirt under your arms.  It seems like no matter what antiperspirant I purchase for him, none of them do a great job.

Certain Dri Anti-Perspirants is the strongest formula available without a prescription for controlling extreme underarm perspiration.   Certain Dri should be applied at night before bed 2- 3 times a week and in the morning you can use Certain Dri A.M. Underarm Refresher or your usual deodorant.  There are three types of Certain Dri: Roll-on, A.M. Underarm Refresher and the new solid.

My husband has been very happy with this product, he no longer has to worry about those wet spots on his dress shirts.  It has built up his confidence during meetings and he continues to use it religiously.  Certain Dri does leave a few small white spots on his shirt, but that is typical with most solid anti-perspirants. Certain Dri retails for around $5.50-$5.99 which is much cheaper than your leading prescription anti-perspirants and it does just as good of a job, if not better!

Certain Dri is currently hosting a 72-Hour Summer Stay Dry Marathon on Facebook for eight weeks!  Fans will have a chance to win a Travelocity travel gift card to create their own three-day weekend getaway, Certain Dri product and $72 retailer gift cards. Check out the Certain Dri Facebook page for giveaway details and entry form.

We All Scream for Ice Cream: Latest Frozen Treats

Is there really any better way to cool off during this summer heat than some nice cold ice cream?  Now you can cool off with five new fantastic treats, with so many to choose from you are sure to find something for your entire family.

Magnum, or as I like to call it, heaven on a stick.  Magnum now introduces a mini line of petite treats. The new Magnum minis come in two flavors, Classic and Almond. I chose the classic, smooth ice cream covered in rich Belgian milk chocolate, they are just the perfect size to cool you off and help that craving for something sweet. Unlike other chocolate covered bars, Magnum has a think layer of chocolate that keeps the ice cream from melting all over your hands.  Magnum has also added Mint and Mochaccino to its traditional-sized bars, which also include white, dark, almond, double caramel, double chocolate and of course classic.

Breyers Blasts!, this ice cream is just plain fun.  Not only do you get ice cream, your favorite treats are mixed in.  No need to go to your local ice cream shop and pay a small fortune for a scoop of ice cream. Breyers Blast! is right there in your local grocery store freezer and convenient whenever you get the urge.   Breyers Blasts!  has 18 different varieties to choose from including six new flavors such as Oreo Birthday Blast, Golden Oreo Cookies & Cream, Reese’s- Chocolate, Klondike Krunch, Banana Split, and Smores.  We chose Ms. Field’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie, it is delicious chocolate ice cream with chucks of brownie in it.  This is (was) a great treat without leaving the house.

Klondike was by far my husband’s favorite of all the choices.  He has loved Klondike for as long has he has remembered.  The new Chocolate Choco Taco is the convenience of an ice cream cone without the mess.160; The taco part tastes like waffle cone and is filled with light chocolate ice cream topped off with a crispy rice chocolate shell.  The Choco Taco is delicious and refreshing.  Klondike introduces in addition to the Chocolate Choco Taco a Peanut Butter flavored Taco as well as a new chocolate ice cream sandwiches.

Good Humor York Ice Cream Bars were by far my favorite ice cream of all these choices.  This is the most refreshing ice cream I have ever eaten.  The smooth mint flavored ice cream covered in rich chocolate is the a wonderful treat and perfect way too cool off.  In addition to the York Bars, Good Humor now offers Mounds and Reese along with many other delicious choices.

Popsicle  has come out with a new line called Yosicle, it combines both ice pops and yogurt.   We tried the Layerz! in cotton candy and orange vanilla.  These are perfect for outside in the sprinkler.  with it being so hot outside my children could not eat them as fast as they were melting. They thought it was finger licking good (literally).  Popsicle has also partnered with Sour Patch Kids and introduced a new popsicle that replicates the sour then sweet taste of the Sour Patch candies.

Whatever your taste buds crave, one of these choices will certainly cool you off during the dog days of summer! Which is your favorite?

Skeeter Snacks are Nut-Free and Delicious! {Giveaway}

Don’t you just love when your child comes home from school and informs you that it is his or her turn to bring snacks for the entire class?  I always try and send something that all of the children would enjoy but there always seems to be a couple of children who are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts in my son’s class.  I couldn’t believe the amount products that say produced in a factory that manufactures nut products!

Skeeter Snacks is a totally nut free snack maker and they have come up with a solution to the nut allergy problem.  No need to send an extra snack for the child that has the allergy, these cookies are so tasty that everyone will enjoy them.  I asked my husband to taste one without telling him what they were and he thought they were great.

From the website:

While there are other products available in the broadly defined “allergen” and “intolerance” markets, we have focused exclusively on the peanut and nut-free problem. There are two reasons for this. First, nut allergies are the most dangerous and among the most prevalent. Second, we can focus exclusively on peanut and tree nut allergies and still make a product that tastes great to both kids and adults and is priced within the means of most families (nut allergies impact all geographic and socioeconomic groups equally yet too many of the solutions are elitist in their price points). Personally, we don’t want to have to buy separate snacks for our other kids who don’t have allergies, and we figure our customers feel the same way. We want to make snacks that are safe and delicious for everyone!

Developed by two dads with children that have nut allergies, Skeeter Snacks has gone the extra mile to insure that there are no nuts anywhere in their facility.  According to their website they don’t even allow nut products in the vending machines in the factory’s employee break room, now that is commitment! The best thing about the cookies is that they don’t taste like ‘allergy food.’  We tested each of the three flavors, Chocolate Chunk, Skeeter Doodle and Golden Oatmeal.  They all had a great taste to them, but my personal favorite was the Chocolate Chunk and my son agrees with me.  However, my husband really enjoyed the Skeeter Doodle the best, but I won’t turn down any of the flavors.

Not only are you getting a snack that is safe for everyone to enjoy, they are sold at a very reasonable price.   If ordered online you receive 6 packs (that’s 12 cookies) for only $3.99.  Skeeter Snacks are available at major retailers nationwide and online at
