This post is brought to you by guest author, Christine.

The EPA estimates that about 7.8 billion gallons of water – or anywhere from 30 to 70 percent depending on the region – are used outdoors in the U.S. each year and as much as half of that is wasted due to inefficient watering methods. 1. Great tips! Im glad we’ve been getting a lot of rain lately so i’ve been watering a lot less lately!

  2. Such great tips – and so important to be conscious about water usage, especially during the summer. Just because it’s hot doesn’t mean you have to be wasteful.

  3. These are great tips. It drives me crazy when you see people watering the street or their sprinklers are on in the rain. We always keep a close eye on the weather and if it is going to rain turn our sprinklers off.

  4. I dont water the lawn, mostly just the garden and luckily I use most of these methods. I would like to try a rain barrel though for the hottest months but have yet tto do it!
