I Took the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Cleanser Challenge! {Giveaway}

I hate to admit it, but forty is just around the corner.  As I age, I am finding my skin to be a little dull and becoming more sensitive than in my younger years.  Because of my changing skin, I have been on a (what seems like never-ending) search for the perfect regimen to clean, hydrate and protect my face.

As a Neutrogena Ambassador, I was asked to take the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser Challenge.  Every day for two weeks, I abandoned by regular cleanser and used this product exclusively.  I, like many people,  don’t feel like there’s a cleanser that can possibly meet all my needs. Regular cleansers tend to be too irritating, while gentle cleansers can be ineffective and leave a filmy residue. But the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser has advanced technology which delivers a superior clean with unsurpassed gentleness.

“It’s gentle enough that I can recommend it to patients with even the most sensitive skin, like those with eczema, acne, and rosacea.” ~Dr. Jaliman, Dermatologist

So, how does the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser remove 99% of excess oil, dirt, and even makeup while leaving skin’s natural moisture and effectively preserving skin’s barrier? Here’s the geeky part (put on your lab goggles):

Many cleansers have surfactants that penetrate and irritate the skin’s surface. The patented cleansing technology in Ultra Gentle Cleanser attracts free-floating surfactants for a thorough clean without redness, dryness, or irritation.  I love that it is also formulated with a hypoallergenic fragrance that is free of known skin allergens.

After hearing all of the science behind the cleanser, I could not wait to give it a try.  After two weeks of testing, you can check out my results in the infographic below:

I absolutely loved the cleanser and have made it a permanent fixture in my bathtub.  My daughter (who has eczema) has been using it, too, with great results.  Over 14,000 people have taken the Ultra Gentle Challenge with 74% of the respondents saying that the Neutrogena Ultra Daily Cleanser cleans MORE than their regular brand.  Take a look at the the Ultra Gentle Challenge website to see all of the results, feature reviews and dermatologist recommendations.

  1. Usually when I use a cheap lotion (bath & body works, walmart brand, etc) my skin gets really red and burns.

  2. I have sensitive skin that gets super dry but breaks out when I use moisturizer..what’ a gal to do?!

  3. I have seasonal allergies that have developed into not just the sniffles, but rashes when I brush up against the trees/shrubs that put out the pollen that give me the sniffles. Had a horrible time over winter holidays when I reacted to the new L’oreal sulfate free conditioning shampoo. Turns out they put a minute amount of juniper oil in it. My hair looked great but it soaked in and where ever my hair touched skin, I broke out in a rash. At that point, all my lotions and cleansers needed to step back to gentle sensitive skin type until things cleared up.
    So – my issues with sensitive skin often comes back to worrying about just what the brand has put into a product. Neutrogena is one of the limited number of brands that the allergist said was trustworthy.

  4. If I don’t moisturize daily I get very dry skin.
    Thanks, Karen

  5. It’s greasy. When I put lotion on, it just clogs up the pores and makes me break out.

  6. I get flushed looking without sun exposure from anything with retin-A and many other products. I didn’t know alpha-hydroxy was the same as glycolic acid and my skin looked like crap for 4 days.

  7. My sensitive skin causes severe itchiness. On a scale of 1 to 10, sometimes it can be a 30. Drives me crazy. Thanks.

  8. I have Lupus, so I have to be super careful about what I put on my skin or what I expose my skin to.

  9. My face breaks out from so many cleansers. 🙁 I also have super dry skin so anything to help the breakouts just makes my skin dry, red and raw.
