In New Orleans, the dog days of summer can last clear through Thanksgiving.  I can remember many years wearing shorts and tank tops to Thanksgiving dinner with the family!  Because of the weather, we tend to indulge with ice cream treats for several months.

One of my favorite frozen sweet treat memories is the day we took my daughter to her very first “Make Your Own Sundae” Bar.  To say that she enjoyed it would be an understatement.  She piled her single scoop of cotton candy ice cream (blue, of course) with cookie crumbles, chocolate chips, gummy worms and chocolate sauce…and ate every.single.bite.  We had a blast watching her assemble her own sundae creation and she was thrilled to finally be “in charge” of her own snack.  I think we created a monster because now, nearly two years later, she is obsessed with ice cream.
