Moon Dough Magic Zoo: Review

Both of my daughters love to create….cards, towers, muffins, music, dance….you name it, they have created it.  We have several versions of molding clay in our home that the girls both love.  So, to be honest, I was a bit skeptical to try another brand (and suffer having to clean up yet another mess).  But, Moon Dough looked like so much fun and my daughters have asked to try it on many occasions, so the softy in me gave in.

And I am so glad I did.

We had the opportunity to try out the Moon Dough Magic Zoo, which is new for Spring 2011.  The first thing you should know is that Moon Dough is soft, light, wheat free and hypo allergenic.  And secondly, you should know that it’s crazy fun and totally addictive!  When we first opened the package, my daughter said, “Mom, it’s just like cotton candy but it’s not sticky!”  She was totally right.  I started molding the Moon Dough and couldn’t believe how different it felt from other sets we have tried.

My daughters started filling the included molds (penguin, bear, gorilla and a zoo gate) and had a great time creating their own personal zoo.  It was impossible to describe the reaction, so I thought a video may do the product better justice!  Check out my almost three year old playing with the Moon Dough Magic Zoo (pay no attention to the fact that she is wearing her Ariel Halloween Costume, she lives in it!):

As you can tell, my daughters loved playing with the Moon Dough Magic Zoo.  They did need supervision and some adult help to turn the crank as seen in the video above, but we had as much fun playing with the set as the kids did!  As a Mom, I love the fact that the Moon Dough never dries out allowing my girls to get many uses out of the set.  I was also totally impressed with the clean up.  Moon Dough is very easy to clean up and can even be vacuumed straight off the table or floor.
