Labor of Love Giveaway #1: Medela Freestyle

Welcome to the Labor of Love giveaway series at The Experimental Mommy!  For the next two weeks, I will be featuring products for the Mom-to-Be, newborns and infants.  You don’t want to miss the fabulous finds and great giveaways I have in store!

Giveaway #1

When I was pregnant with Lily, I decided that I wanted to breastfeed, so I started reading anything and everything in order to educate myself.  Because I am a working Mom, I knew I would have to purchase a breast pump and all of my research lead me to Medela.  My Lactation Consultant suggested I look into a double electric pump because I would have to pump on my breaks at work and I decided on the Medela Pump in Style.  While I was VERY happy with the pump and actually used it for my second pregnancy three years later, I felt tied down during my pumping sessions.

I only WISH Medela had come out with the new Medela Freestyle a few years ago!  The Freestyle is the first rechargeable, hands-free, double electric breast pump and is the essence of the word FREEDOM!  This pump, which fits into the palm of your hand, includes Medela’s research-based 2-Phase Expression® technology. At the risk of sounding like an infomercial….WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

The Freestyle includes a rechargeable battery which holds three hours of pumping time, a backlit display for nighttime sessions, and a programmable memory which allows Mom to record her preferred pumping patterns. The accessories attach easily to most nursing bras and you can even wear the pump on your belt giving Mom the freedom to accomplish other tasks while pumping. New Moms are loving this product!

Because Medela is a company that is driven by the importance of breastfeeding, they have created a new group of women (aka “breastfeeding ambassadors”) known as The Mom Mavens.  This group allows experienced Moms to share their knowledge of breastfeeding and lend support to new Mothers.  By becoming a Mom Maven, you will have the opportunity to make a difference to a new mother by lending a helping hand, get the first look at new Medela products and have the opportunity to share your thoughts and opinions with Medela professionals.

Are you an expecting Mom or know someone who could benefit from the Medela Freestyle?  Medela has generously offered one Not-So-Blog reader their very own Freestyle (ARV $379.99!).

  1. I have had my eye on this pump for a few weeks now! I think it’s so genius that it is HANDS FREE! It would make my life sooooooooo much easier.

  2. I love the size the most. When I returned to work after my daughter was born and had to lug a huge pump in a backpack around it was such a pain. I found pumping to be such a hardship and I think this would make it that much easier!

  3. I love the 2-Phase Expression® technology — smart and powerful pumping that is proven to mimic a baby’s natural nursing pattern and get more milk in less time.

  4. The 2-Phase Expression® technology — smart and powerful pumping that is proven to mimic a baby’s natural nursing pattern and get more milk in less time

  5. i like that its so small and portable. who wants to lug around a mammouth pump? Who wants to store a pump that needs its own cabinet its so big?

  6. I like that it is so small and lightweight where you can truly be hands free and mobile. I would drag my big rented symphony around the house because I had to get things done while the twins were sleeping.

  8. Medela products are the best for nursing and pumping! What I like about this pump is that its compact unlike the others which scream BREASTPUMP! lol

  9. What a great size this breast pump is! I borrowed a breast pump with the last baby (yes I know you aren’t supposed to) but the thing was a monster and I hated pulling it out so I hardly ever pumped. I would like to pump a little more this time around!

  10. I’m most interested in Medela’s 2 Phase Expression® hospital technology that works more like your baby for more milk in less time. I have tried to use some pumps that simply couldn’t do the job for me. I’m not very easy to, uh, milk. The Medela that I rented was wonderful! I loved it, and I’d love to have one of my own.

  11. I love that it really is hands free. I also love how small it is and fits in the palm of your hand. No more lugging around a huge machine.

  12. Hands down it would be the hands free and the doing both breasts at once….my single hand pump is no longer cutting it

  13. Is this for real, yippee.. i remember when i was breastfeeding a year ago it was such a pain to do anything while pumping. This is so great that its HANDS FREE!

  14. I like the 2-Phase Expression® technology — smart and powerful pumping that is proven to mimic a baby’s natural nursing pattern and get more milk in less time

  15. Fits in the palm of your hand and who doesn’t love a hands free pump… pumping is so arduous this at least allows you to put your concentration elsewhere

  16. wow what an awesome giveaway! this is perfect I’m due next month and need a breastpump! What I love with the freestyle medela is that you can use it hands-free and it’s a double-electric pump!
    thanks for the giveaway!

  17. I have an older pump n style, I got at a second hand store, and it is so buky. I love that this one is light weight and so chick! I would love to win it!

  18. I so desperately want the freestyle because for many reasons but I love the fact that the pump can be carried in anything, anywhere. No more lugging bags around – I could just tuck it in my purse.

  19. I love the hands free accessories so I could play with my older daughter while pumping instead of having to hold the bottles!

  20. I love 2 things about this pump: lightweight, and hands-free. I actually lug a very large rental pump (hey, it was free) to and from work every day, and I can’t get work done while I pump since I’m holding the bottles. This pump would make life so much easier….

  22. I really like that the Freestyle contains Medela’s 2 Phase Expression hospital technology that works more like your baby for more milk in less time. It also features the unique one touch let-down button.

  23. Thanks for this great opportunity. The feature that excites me the most is the mobility of the unit– to be able to move while pumping will be a big boon as I try to keep up with both my 1 1/2 year old and tend to my newborn. This is followed closely by how light-weight the unit is. I traveled a lot while pumping for 14 months last time and really appreciate this feature of the freestyle as well for when I return back to work.

  24. The rechargeable battery feature is my favorite – being able to pump while not being chained to a wall with an outlet? Priceless.

  25. I like that it is backlit. I work nights, so pumping at night is par for the course. Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com

  26. Like you, I love my pump in style, but I am drawn to the freedom of this hands free system, and to its memory of my favorite pumping style. Thanks for the giveaway.

  27. Kudos to whoever wins this pump. Breastfeeding is a challenge but I have learned with a Medela breastpump it definitely helps to build your supply. I would love to win this to replace my pump because handsfree would be great. WOW!

  28. the best feature of this pump is the hands free option.
I am a fan of medela on facebook
I am a memeber of the medela community earties.

  29. The portability of the Freestyle is wonderful.

I am a second time surrogate, and just as I did with my first journey – I am going to be pumping and donating my milk to local families who have adopted babies. I would LOVE to have the Freestyle this time around.

    Thank you SO much. 😀

  30. All of the features are great, but my favorite is the “2-Phase Expression® technology — smart and powerful pumping that is proven to mimic a baby’s natural nursing pattern and get more milk in less time”. I would love to spend less time pumping with this next baby.

  31. The fact that it is hands-free is absolutely the best feature, ever! This would be amazing for me. I’m pumping exclusively for twins and it is so limiting to have to hold the “gear.” Thank you for the amazing chance!

  32. I am a member of the medela community. I am also a fan of medela and the not so blog on facebook! (Under Autumn Cofer)

    Thanks!

  33. The hands-free accessories would be a lifesaver. I had to switch to exclusively pumping with my daughter due to medical issues. With my pump I have to hold one and while I have figure out how to prop the other on a pillow to at least have one hand free, it still slips off sometimes which is a HUGE pain.

  34. I like that it has 2-Phase Expression® technology — smart and powerful pumping that is proven to mimic a baby’s natural nursing pattern and get more milk in less time.

  35. I would LOVE this pump! With three other children running around, my baby number four (due in March) would really benefit from me being able to pump quickly and easily when I go back to work. The BEST feature of this pump is that it is battery operated but still powerful – a difficult feat to accomplish. Thanks for allowing me to enter!

  37. I should have had this when I gave birth to my little girl.. I found electric pumps very expensive but after a while I realized that it is a good investment to make because you can still make use of it with your next baby.. 🙂
