White stuff fell from the sky!

What is this powdery substance?? Somebody said it was snow, but that is such a foreign concept to New Orleanians! Someone really should call God, because Hell must be frozen over!

This morning on my way to drop off Lily at school, snowflakes began to fall! I was in such disbelief that I actually pulled the car over and rolled down the windows! When we arrived at school, I let Lily play in the snow for a bit….this is her first time EVER seeing snow!

Once I got to work, just about all of my coworkers were looking out the windows, taking pictures, or chatting with excitement. We even went outside to play in it!

Since New Orleans just does NOT handle snow well (I’ve never even seen a real life snow plow before!), we were dismissed from work for a snow day!! That NEVER happens! This is what my house looked like when I arrived home……

It is just so pretty and peaceful. Where’s my hot chocolate?

  1. Awe, so cute! I was really giddy like that when we first moved to Memphis 4 years ago.

My family got snow down near Houston/Galveston and they were super giddy!

Hubby tells me it’s in our forecast, but all I see is a bunch of chilly wind. Bleh!

  2. Bridgette, I’ll send you some hot chocolate – its a staple up here! I was thinking of you and wondering if you got the snow – enjoy!
Oh, I’m starting a new blog, Nansense is gone. Playful Decor is born!

  3. Wow, it’s really her first time? That’s incredible. I could never imagine not having feet of snow for the winter season. Have fun today!

  4. Congrats! My mom reported 5 inches up in Baton Rouge this morning before the rain started to melt it. I hope yall had a blast playing in it. We lucked out and didn’t get much here in Houston but a few flakes and nothing sticking to the ground.

  5. And here we are in Indiana with NO SNOW. BTW, I can’t believe you got a snow day for that. Kids around here still walk to school in more snow than that!

  7. Enjoy!!!
We have a little snow here, and my kids are crazy!!!
Snow in New Orleans!! I bet it is an amazing day!!!

  8. How exciting! I can’t imagine how magical it must be for the kids. I’m looking out my Wisconsin window at a shoulder-high bank from the snow plows. I love the first snow fall, and I wish I could stay as excited about it all winter. Shoveling has a way of diminishin the magic.

  9. I’M SO JEALOUS!!!

My jaw hit the floor when I saw your house… I want some!

It snowed a couple hours to the north of us, and got down to the upper 20’s here, but the skies have been pretty clear.

    SEND IT OVER HERE!!!

My mom bought me plane tickets to Chicago last January, and there was NO SNOW!!! Finally, about my third day there it started. I was so deliriously happy I was making snow angels on Michigan Avenue’s sidewalk! My friend said people were grinning at me like they forgot that snow could be fun!

  10. It’s an everyday occurrence here but I saw that you got snow on Ellen today and I think it’s wonderful for you! It’s like magic!
