Ease New Parent Worries with Walmart Baby Steps

BabyStepsMy husband and I were married for 4 years before we decided to try to expand our family.  After about 6 months, we were overjoyed to learn we were expecting our first child.  Even though our baby was planned, we were undeniably scared to become parents.  Neither one of us had ever really been around kids and had never done any extensive babysitting.  How would we know what to do with our new baby?  How often did we feed her?  How do we change a diaper?  What do we do if she gets sick?

In order to calm my fears, I immediately stuck my nose in a book and started reading every shred of advice I could get my hands on.  A few of those tidbits proved invaluable and gave me (an albeit false) sense of security and confidence.  Thankfully, I had a wonderful Mom and Pediatrician that helped ease me into Motherhood.

When I was a kid, I was a very picky eater.  Unfortunately, now I have two daughters who are following in my footsteps.  I have to try pretty hard to get them to eat healthy foods and make sure they are getting the proper nutrients.  n an effort to make sure my girls grow up strong and smart, I am constantly looking for new ways supply them with the daily allowance of vitamins and minerals.

Before I knew it, both drinks were GONE.

Nestle Family Virtual Halloween Party: Trick or Treat Memories {$100 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway}

Nestlé Family Halloween PartyTrick or Treat, Smell my Feet, Give me Something Good to Eat! For me, Halloween was always all about the candy! When we got home from trick or treating around the neighborhood, Jennifer and I would sort our candy into piles. There was a chocolate pile, a sweet tart pile, the gum pile and the ever disappointing and dreaded raisin pile!

Now that I am taking my own kids door to door, we are starting to make some really great memories of our own. My oldest is only five, so she is just starting to understand the whole trick or treating tradition, but she is definitely a quick study and is actively teaching her little sister the ropes (two bags equals more candy, right?).  Last year, my daughters decided to be “poodle skirt girls” and twisted their way around the neighborhood in pink skirts, white tights and pretty hairbows!  Their matching costumes were just too darn cute and while my youngest was quite confused as to why people were giving her stuff, she had a blast. This year, the oldest decided to go with Hannah Montana and my youngest wants to be the “pink Little Mermaid.”  Uh. Um.  A pink Little Mermaid?  I am still at a loss on this one….all suggestions are welcome!

Because my kids are young, we are just starting to develop our holiday traditions and we are looking forward to many more years of collecting candy on Halloween….pink mermaids and all!

Secrets of the Mountain: Review and Giveaway

Each weekend, we settle down with the kids for a special night of either family games or movie night.  While I love movie night, I find it quite challenging to find age appropriate programming for my children that my husband and I can tolerate as well.  So I am always excited to learn about our family-friendly entertainment options.

I was so sad to miss a special screening in New York City of  the new TV movie, “Secrets of the Mountain” but was fortunate enough to be able to get a sneak peak in my own home.  This movie, which premieres on NBC this Friday, April 16th, combines adventure and mystery with family values and togetherness.  I know I can certainly relate to the hectic, fast pace of a working Mom!  A little detail about the movie:

The weather this winter has wreaked complete havoc on my skin causing it to be abnormally dry and flakey. Couple that with the fact that I am about to turn 36 and you have one major need for skin revitalization! olayLooking around the Olay site, I found a quiz you can take to determine your skin’s age.  To my surprise, this 36 year old has a “skin-age” of 24-33! YAY!  Nonetheless, it is never too early to take steps to protect your skin, right?  When first using the new body wash, I noticed how thick and creamy the body wash felt…. it just looks like it would nourish the skin.  The scent is also light and pleasant, definitely not overpowering and it lathers very well on my loofa.  After one week of using the body wash daily, I can actually feel a difference in my skin.  It is soft, smooth and appears less dry.
