Sweet SONIC Drive-In Tees {$20 SONIC Giveaway}

All this holiday shopping is making me thirsty!  And if you read this blog at all, you know that when I am thirsty, nothing will do except a big glass of Southern Sweet Tea.  One of my favorite places to get my sweet tea fix is SONIC Drive-In (it doesn’t hurt that they have delicious tater tots, too).  On a recent holiday shopping marathon, I decided to get my swing into SONIC and pick up my favorite drink and realized that I should share the wealth with my other sweet tea lovin’ friends.  In just under 10 minutes, I had completed the rest of my shopping list by purchasing SONIC gift cards…great for stocking stuffers and teacher’s gifts!

But why stop at the gift card?  For the first time, SONIC is offering a dozen officially-licensed SONIC tees!  These aren’t your ordinary logo polo shirts, the gang at SONIC designed quirky, stylish, unique novelty t-shirts (which even come in female cuts!).  Why not pair a tee with gift card for the SONIC lover on Santa’s list?

SONIC Limeades for Learning: Review and Giveaway

As my daughter enters Kindergarten this year, I realize now more than ever, the importance of education.  In order for my daughter to develop a love of learning, it is imperative that she have the materials needed to succeed and a creative teacher.  Just like in 2009, SONIC and DonorsChoose.org are again stepping up to the plate to make some of these classroom dreams come true with the Limeades for Learning program!  Last year, SONIC donated more than $600,000 to public school classrooms around the country.  By October, SONIC customers, friends and fans will have directed more than $1 million dollars to support teachers in local communities.

By visiting the Limeades for Learning site, you can find your favorite public school teacher’s classroom project.  Beginning August 30th, you can vote for your favorite project once per day (no purchase necessary to vote).  On Friday, the votes are tallied and the teacher with the most votes receives complete funding for their project!  If the votes exceed 1 million, SONIC will donate an additional $100,000!

I took a look around and found so many creative projects!  I wish I could fund them all!  Because I am a Scientist living in New Orleans, I decided to help fund a Science project at a school effected by Hurricane Katrina.  This program, which is in need of a Wii console for Virtual Surgery, is helping to train students for careers in nursing.

Limeades for Learning: SONIC Giveaway

My husband is a high school teacher, so any promotion that helps teachers, schools and students peaks my interest! SONIC is beginning a program called “Limeades for Learning” on August 31st which will provide grants to U.S. public school teachers to fund classroom projects by partnering with a wonderful organization called DonorsChoose.org, a National leading non-profit website which helps to fund projects requested by teachers.  This September, SONIC will donate more than a half million dollars to fund classroom materials and inspire learning.

Teachers can register their projects at Limeades for Learning in order to become eligible for the grants from SONIC.  From August 31st through October 1st, each time you purchase a drink from SONIC, it will be specially marked with a unique code that will allow you to vote for your favorite teacher program at Limeades for Learning.  Each week for five weeks, the teacher projects with the most votes will receive funding!  And the giving doesn’t stop there!  Customers that are inspired by a particular teacher project will have the additional opportunity to donate their own money to that project.  From soccer balls to ESL materials, computers to microscopes, these teachers have a mission to teach or youth.  Help support these projects and purchase a SONIC drink today!

Fortunately, there is a SONIC only a few blocks from my house, so we are no stranger to this drive-in!  It has recently undergone a face lift and looks fantastic.  Along with the remodel came new menus and healthier options.  As I was ordering for Lily, I was pleased to see that apple slices and bananas were included among the options for sides with her Wacky Pack Kids Meal.  She quickly chose apples and decided she wanted to try the apple juice slush!  I ordered a hot dog, apples and white milk for Aubrie and combo meals for my husband and I.  The total bill was under $18!  Not bad for dinner for a family of 4.  And even though it is fast food, I felt like my children were not eating junk.  Back at home, the kids cleaned their plates and were so excited to get a Sonic treat!

We loved our SONIC experience!  I believe Moms and Dads alike will be pleased with the new healthy options available in the Wacky Packs for kids.  And for those that need to satisfy their french fry craving, a WebMD nutritionist identified SONIC regular french fries as the most healthy among other fast-food restaurants.  The Wacky Packs also come with educational toys that encourage parent-child interaction.
