Freschetta By the Slice Pizza: Review and Giveaway

As busy as my schedule can be, I try my hardest to prepare a balanced breakfast for my daughters before sending them to school, and packing a fun but satisfying lunch for them as well. I will admit that it takes much planning (especially for my picky eater), but it is totally worth it because my daughters are my life! That being said, I take so much time planning for our busy weeks that I often forget to plan for myself!

I work full time outside the home and try to bring my lunch to work on occasion in order to save money. But there is one problem….I am not a fan of leftovers. Gone are the rubbery reheated pizza slices!

The Freschetta By the Slice pizza comes in several different varieties including BBQ Recipe Chicken, Vegetable Medley, Chicken, Spinach & Mushroom and Six Cheese Medley. Because I am not an adventurous eater either, I opted for the Freschetta Six Cheese Medley. It was very easy to heat in the microwave and even came out crispy! The cheese was not rubbery at all and melted nicely. I would definitely consider bringing this for lunch at work!

Freschetta Flatbread Pizza: Review

As a Mom of two who also works outside the home, planning meals ahead of time is a must! My husband and I try to prepare meals, not only for nutritional value, but meals that are cost effective as well. Another must? The kids have to want to eat it! Fortunately, Freschetta FlatBread Pizza fits the bill!

Frozen pizza is a quick and convenient meal that my kids love. However, we have tried to but a “value” pizza only to have it go to waste because the quality was poor. Since that experience, we have been loyal to one particular brand and have not ventured away from it in quite some time. So, I was glad that Freschetta gave me an excuse to think outside of the box. The good people at Freschetta supplied me with a few coupons to take their pizzas for a test drive with my family. We selected both the Freschetta FlatBread Pepperoni and the Freschetta Rising Crust Four Cheese pizza. About the Freschetta FlatBreads:

“Go ahead – indulge in pizza tonight. For this amazing flatbread, we start with just the right amount of only all-natural cheeses and a sauce made from real, ripe tomatoes. Both pizzas smelled wonderful while cooking and Aubrie enjoyed watching the Rising Crust Pizza takes its shape in the oven. But how did they taste? Fabulous! I enjoyed the FlatBread pizza while my girls loved the Rising Crust pizza because it looked more like traditional pizza (and how food looks is a big deal when you are 2 and 5).

After checking out the Freschetta site, I saw that the line also includes single serving pizzas. I will definitely be trying those next because they would be a great way to spice up lunch at work! Interested in trying Freschetta? Download a $1 off coupon and run (don’t walk) to the grocery!

Wheat is Neat!

Because I have been following the Weight Watchers weight loss plan, I have been more health “selective” when choosing which foods to eat. I have learned that foods rich in fiber such as whole grains tend to be lower in “Points” and more satisfying. I want to feel full while losing weight, so I often reach for the filling foods. While its easy to grab a loaf of wheat bread or a box of shredded wheat, I never stopped to think about all the hard work that goes into producing these helpful foods.

If you have the same questions, check out the new interactive, online multimedia program called How Wheat Works. This website delivers a farm-to-fork education on wheat, enabling a better understanding of its nutritional value. I have had the opportunity to take a look at this site during another promotion during which I took the time to plant some hard wheat. When I signed in today, my crops were ready to harvest! It was lots of fun to see how the farmer knows when the crop is ready to harvest, and the machinery that is involved (one acre of wheat can be harvested in less than 12 minutes!). Activity suggestions at the end of each phase allow participants to extend their learning experience through preparing wheat-based recipes, exploring wheat grown in their area through our state wheat commission member sites and viewing harvest videos from “America’s Heartland.”

And if you need more incentive to participate in the program, the Wheat Foods Council will donate two pounds of flour, up to 90,000 pounds, to Operation Homefront, a non-profit that provides assistance to needy U.S. troops and their families. This program is also being extended to youth by providing a kid-friendly website containing games, quizzes, and recipes. By arming citizens with information, the Wheat Council hopes to teach people how a whole or enriched grain food comes to be can shed new light on wheat nutrition, resulting in informed food choices.
