SONIC Limeades for Learning: Review and Giveaway
As my daughter enters Kindergarten this year, I realize now more than ever, the importance of education. In order for my daughter to develop a love of learning, it is imperative that she have the materials needed to succeed and a creative teacher. Just like in 2009, SONIC and DonorsChoose.org are again stepping up to the plate to make some of these classroom dreams come true with the Limeades for Learning program! Last year, SONIC donated more than $600,000 to public school classrooms around the country. By October, SONIC customers, friends and fans will have directed more than $1 million dollars to support teachers in local communities.
By visiting the Limeades for Learning site, you can find your favorite public school teacher’s classroom project. Beginning August 30th, you can vote for your favorite project once per day (no purchase necessary to vote). On Friday, the votes are tallied and the teacher with the most votes receives complete funding for their project! If the votes exceed 1 million, SONIC will donate an additional $100,000!
I took a look around and found so many creative projects! I wish I could fund them all! Because I am a Scientist living in New Orleans, I decided to help fund a Science project at a school effected by Hurricane Katrina. This program, which is in need of a Wii console for Virtual Surgery, is helping to train students for careers in nursing.

One night last week, my husband and I had a much needed date night and asked my Mom to babysit the kids while we were away. I thought this toy would be a great way to occupy the girls and involve my Mom in a fun activity. While Play Doh is always a hit in my house, accessories are a must. Without them, I can make……..well…..a snake. With my Scientific brain, coming up with creative clay projects is quite difficult. The 74 accessories allowed my girls to play with this set for HOURS without getting bored.
As a Mom, I love that they used their imaginations while working together to play and create fun creatures, food products, houses and silly faces. And what made it even better is that my Mom enjoyed it just as much as the girls did! Isn’t Play Doh a timeless toy? I would highly recommend this developmental toy from Constructive Playthings!
My family had the great pleasure of testing out the Clay Center with Play Doh from Constructive Playthings, a great store with a huge selection of educational toys. My daughters loved creating fun sculptures with the various accessories (their favorite was the rolling pin with stencils!) and played creatively for over an hour. As a working Mom, sometimes it is hard to always serve healthy meals when life gets busy. The key to staying healthy in my home is planning, planning and more planning! The food, the music, the people, the Saints….I love everything about living in New Orleans….until now. Recently, I was contacted by Safeway to do a review of their grocery stores, and unfortunately there are NONE in my area. Not even close. After searching the website, I now realize what I am missing!
