Vitamma for Women: Review and Giveaway

Unfortunately, my daughters seem to have inherited my lack of adventure when it comes to cuisine.  Because getting my girls to eat their veggies can be a battle, I make sure they get what they need from a daily multi-vitamin.  But what about me?  Moms often take care of the little ones, but forget to take care of themselves, too!

When I was pregnant with my daughters and throughout breastfeeding, I was vigilant about taking my prenatal vitamins.  But somewhere along the road (I guess as life with two got busier), I dropped my nightly vitamin from my routine.  So, when I was approached to do a review for Vitamma, I took it as a sign that it was time to start taking care of me!  About Vitamma’s Womens Multi:

Our Women’s Multi is all about a balance. While some companies tout the sheer quantities they can pack into a multivitamin we strive for quality. That’s why we offer women a vitamin you can be confident is delivering the right amounts of the right nutrients, including:
  • Support for Healthy Skin with Vitamins A, C, Copper and Iron.
  • Breast Health support from Vitamin D3 (1000 IUs) – specifically from the preferred Vitamin D3.
  • Bone Strength with Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D.
  • Iron (18 mg) as is recommended for premenopausal women.
  • Heart Health with Vitamins B6, B12, C, E and Folic Acid.
  • Energy support from a blend of B Vitamins, including Niacin (B3), as well as Chromium.
  • Folic Acid as is recommended for women of childbearing age to guard against neural tube birth defects.

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.”

The Women’s Multi comes in packs of 90 for just $14.99.  And by using code MOMS (or simply visiting www.vitamma.com/moms) at checkout, you will receive 15% off!  The best part of Vitamma?  It’s not only good for you, but for every product sold, three children will receive two years worth of Vitamin A through the efforts of Vitamin Angels.

Announcing Reviewer’s Retreat Blog Conference!

Some of you may know that I also run, along with Cecelia from Cool Baby Kid, a network for review bloggers called the Double Duty Divas.  Since 2009, we have been working hard to connect bloggers who do product reviews and harness the power of numbers.  Now with over 250 members, we help each other promote posts, giveaways and have a few fun contests of our own!

After attending a few blog conferences and events, Cecelia and I noticed that topics that engage review bloggers were few and far between.  We had a hard time finding sessions that would directly apply to our genre.  With a unique oportunity to partner with Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains, we have recently created the first blog conference specifically geared towards the product review blogger, Reviewer’s Retreat.

The blog conference will be held on May 15-17, 2011 and we are very excited about our developing agenda and speaker list!  We hope that the bloggers in attendance walk away feeling energized and inspired to move forward in their genre with the confidence to create mutually beneficial relationships with brands and PR representatives.   Head on over to our new blog conference website to learn more details!

Registration will open for Double Duty Diva members only on Monday, October 11th at 11:00am EST.  On November 15th, registration will open for the general public.  Tickets are limited as we plan to facilitate round table discussions and small break out sessions.   Don’t miss any updates by following us on Twitter using #RR11 and liking us on Facebook!

Hope to see you there!

TwinLab Marine Friends Omega-3 Powder: Review and Giveaway

With my two picky eaters, I am always concerned that they are not getting the daily vitamins they need to support healthy growth. I try my best to make sure they get their daily servings of fruit an vegetables, but to be honest, it can be challenging.

So, I was happy to try out Twinlab Marine Friends Children’s Omega-3 Powder. Getting sufficient Omega-3 can be difficult from diet alone, although it is found in seafood and fish oil.  In fact, the American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least two times per week. From the American Heart Association:

Omega-3 fatty acids benefit the heart of healthy people, and those at high risk of — or who have — cardiovascular disease. Research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids decrease risk of arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats), which can lead to sudden death. Omega-3 fatty acids also decrease triglyceride levels, slow growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque, and lower blood pressure (slightly).

twinlabTwinlab’s Marine Friends Children’s Omega-3 Powder provides and easy way to ensure that your kids are getting these fatty acids in their diets. It comes in portable single serving stick packs (30 sticks to a carton) which can easily be mixed in beverages or sprinkled on food. I first tried the product in chilled apple juice, but my daughter did not like the taste. I decided to try it in her yogurt cup and she didn’t taste it at all and at the whole cup without complaint.

From TwinLab:

Twinlab® Marine Friends™ Children’s Omega-3 Powder is a versatile, light tasting powder that blends almost invisibly into everyday foods and drinks like orange juice, yogurt, applesauce, baby food and fruit smoothies. Our formula contains a naturally sourced combination of DHA and EPA that is molecularly distilled for purity and provides 127mg of Omega-3s per serving, with no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or sweeteners added.

One box of TwinLab Marine Friends Children’s Omega-3 Powder can be purchased from $27.99 directly from TwinLab, Amazon.com or in Vitamin Shoppe’s across the nation. Want to try it? Use code HEALTHYKIDS3 for a 20% discount on TwinLab.com only.

“Meet the Divas” and win a $20 Amazon gift card!

With a full time job, two kids and a blog to run, I almost never get a chance to check out the other fabulous blogs out there.  There are a few blogs I visit daily while on my lunch break, but I really need to expand my horizons.

While at BlogHer 09, I had the great pleasure of meeting fellow review blogger, Cecelia from Cool Baby Kid.  After hours of chatting and walking the streets of Chicago, we talked about the trials and tribulations of being a Mom review blogger who also works outside the home.  Our schedules were tight and lacked enough time to really promote our sites in order to advance to the next level.  Almost instantly, a light bulb went off and we both started brainstorming and building on the idea of “power in numbers.”

Out of our discussions grew the “Double Duty Divas.”  We decided to create a blog network in order to connect some of the best review blogs on the Internet and work together as a Team.  By providing “power in numbers” we could promote fellow divas, make new friends and become more attractive to companies looking for a larger audience. With over 100 members, our network has grown beyond our expectations in the first year and we can’t wait to see what’s next for us!

We would love for you to help us celebrate our network by “Meeting the Divas!“  Take a look at some of these great blogs and subscribe via email!

For every blog you subscribe to, come back here and and tell me what you loved about the blog!  Your incentive (other than finding great new sites, of course!)…..a $20 Amazon gift card!  Each of the blogs listed above will be hosting the contest so visit them all and enter to increase your chances of winning!  On June 22nd, the entries will be pooled across all participating blogs and one winner will be randomly selected.  U.S. Only.

Flexi8: Review and Giveaway

hypothesis Hair accessories from Flexi8 will be an easy way to quickly style my hair in the morning and not worry about it all day!

materials

One hair clip in each of  5 sizes (mini, extra small, small and medium), my two year old daughter’s curly locks and my long tresses. About Flexi8:

flexi8“The Flexi 8 is a completely unique, flexible barrette that holds thick, thin, curly, straight, fine and coarse hair. The Flexi 8 comes in a variety of sizes and hundreds of ever changing styles. Flexi 8 uses an ingenious patented locking mechanism to secure it in your hair. It’s such an attractive and unique accessory for your hair, once you try the Flexi 8, LOOK OUT! (you’re in love)”

results With two daughters and myself in the house, there is definitely a need for different types of hair accessories.  My youngest daughter has insanely curly hair and my oldest has thin hair.  Me, on the other hand, has thick but relatively straight locks so many type of hair products are needed in my home.

flexi8cWhen the Flexi8 products arrived, I lined them up on my counter and immediately picked the large clip to  try in my hair.  Guess what…it was too big for my hair.  In fact, most women over-estimate which size they need.  I would strongly advise you to check out the video on sizing the Flexi8 before purchasing.

flexi8dThe medium sized barrette is perfect for me!  I can use it for both a partial updo and a tails up ponytail.  Other than the fact that I love the way the accessories look, I also love that the pin is attached to the barrette so you don’t lose it.  Genius!  The barrette is quite flexible which creates a very sturdy accessory perfect for kids.  I did send my youngest daughter to daycare with her mini barrette and it lasted all day long in her hair!  I also have worn mine on several occasions and it has yet to slip out of my hair.  Check out all the different sizes in order to create different looks and hairstyles!

hypothesis

I will admit that I was a bit skeptical about the Flexi8.  The barrette looks heavy and I didn’t think the pin would stay in my hair, but this barrette stood up to the test and is now my absolute  favorite accessory for both me and my two daughters.  Make sure you take the sizing tips so you can choose the style that is right for you!

Want to win? Flexi8 has generously donated your choice of THREE Flexi8 hair accessories to one lucky Not-So-Blog reader!
