“Cari Snell is the owner, publisher, content writer and recipe wrangler of Can I Get the Recipe? In the 1990′s, Cari travelled the world working as a crew member aboard privately owned multi-million dollar yachts. Starting as a yacht stewardess, she worked her way up the ranks to chef’s assisant and then chef. After returning to the real world, Cari worked for years as an elementary school teacher before becoming a mom. Deciding she needed to return to her passion of cooking and recipes, she created Can I Get the Recipe? While her greatest passion is her family, husband Peter and young sons Taylor and Trevor, Cari is excited to come back to her love of cooking, recipe experimenting, cookbook reading, and product/service tester, reviewer and advertiser as the publisher of Can I get the Recipe?

results When Cari asked me to review her website, I have to admit that I giggled a little.  ”Can I get the Recipe?” is something I have said a million times, mainly to my friend (and Experimental Mommy contributor), Jennifer.   It is no secret on my blog that I am not the chef of the house.  My husband does the cooking, mainly because he wants to eat and not because he generally enjoys it.  That being said, I am trying my hardest to branch out and learn a few things in the kitchen.  I have been inspired by friend’s recipes, my weight loss journey and websites such as Cari’s.

The mission of Can I Get the Recipe? is to “dish out free, doable, nutritious dinner plans that offer a variety of recipes complete with shopping lists each week.”  How perfect is that?  Visiting the website, I noticed that Cari has designed weekly menus including 5 dinners, a dessert and a snack along with a shopping list to guide you through the store.  Each week, a new menu is posted on Friday so you have the opportunity to visit the grocery on the weekend and start to do some prep work before the busy work week begins.  I think the Soft Taco Stack would make a great meal for my family and would definitely be something I could handle!

IMG_0170Can I Get the Recipe? also features cookbooks each week where you can find more yummy options!  I was lucky enough to receive the cookbook, “All Cakes Considered” by Melissa Gray, a producer at NPR’s All Things Considered.  She baked for her coworkers every Monday and quickly became the cake lady!  Over the years, she amassed volumes of NPR approved recipes and compiled them in one delicious cookbook.  I personally cannot wait to try the Tunnel of Fudge Cake!

Help Grow Your Soup! Campbell’s Soup Giveaway!

My kids take their lunch to school every day, and when the weather turns cool the first thing I reach for to get them out of the sandwich slump is Campbell’s Soup. Oftentimes I reach for it as a quick dinner for them when we have a babysitter, and of course I turn to it when the sick bugs get us.  The thing I like best about Campbell’s soup (besides the fact that the kids love it) is that it’s a healthy alternative when I need something fast!

campbells

This year, Campbell’s is partnering with the National FFA organization to feature contributions of the American farming industry.  Campbells’ is  bringing to life the rich history and special stories of how good food is grown.  If you turn to Campbell’s Soup like I do, you need to check out the Help Grow Your Soup Campaign!

campbellsCampbell’s and FFA invite you to consider 10 nominated farms with a unique story and barn in need of preservation.  Campbell’s will donate $1 to FFA (up to $250,000) for every vote cast by January 5, 2010.  The five barns with the most votes will be announced in January 2010 as the winners of this year’s Help Grow Your Soup program. You can vote on which barn needs help the most through the Help Grow Your Soup Website or Facebook Fan Page.

Additionally, as a way of giving back, Campbell is offering its specially-cultivated tomato seeds to anyone who votes!  After a vote is cast for one of the 10 barns, voters can enter the UPC code printed on a can of condensed soup and sign up to receive a packet of Campbell tomato seeds!  What a great way to get your garden started!

With all this giving, it’s hard to believe there is even more!  Campbell’s is offering one Not So Blog reader the chance to win two cans of soup AND a Campbell’s cookbook!

How to enter:

1. Visit Help Grow Your Soup and vote for one of the barns!  Come back and tell me you voted!
