Gifts for Mom from Personal Creations {Giveaway}

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, I have been searching for the perfect gift for my own Mom.  For the past several years, I have gotten my Mom a gift certificate to get her nails done which she enjoys, but this year I am looking for something more personal.  Because I have purchased from Personal Creations in the past, I knew just where to look!

My Mom is the proud Mother of two and even more proud Grandmother of five.  So this year, I thought I would look for something that she could display proudly and that would remind her of the family.  Personal Creations has a huge selection of personalized Mother’s Day gifts such as this Metal Frame Family Tree (which reminds me of something similar my own Great-Grandmother had when I was little).

MOM: STOP READING HERE

For my own Mom (who reads this blog, so seriously Mom, stop reading now!), I decided to go with a gardening theme because she loves getting outside in her garden.  I found a few garden decorations from Personal Creations that are perfect…and I am totally not going to show because I am sure my Mom is still reading this (she is a stubborn as I am).  To round out my gardening theme, I got her a personalized tumbler for her to take outside on hot days.  I think it came out cute!

If you are still on the hunt for a creative and personal gift for Mom, make sure you stop by Personal Creations soon.  There is still a little time to order before Mother’s Day!

Dancing Ribbons from CP Toys {Review and Giveaway}

In my home, I have two dancing princesses.  Ballet, tap, jazz and tumbling are all part of our weekly routine.  In fact, when we are not at the dance studio, the girls are choreographing their own routines complete with imaginary students and kid’s toys turned creative props.

I knew when I saw the Dancing Ribbons at CP Toys, my daughters would love to have them as props for future dance routines!  The red easy hold plastic are adorned with twelve brightly colored 3 foot long vinyl ribbons.  For $35.99, you get a set of six.

The weather has been so nice here in Southeast Louisiana and my daughters could not wait to get outside for their special “dance class.”  It was so much fun to watch them use their imaginations and creativity to construct a dance routine with their new props.  After the dance was complete, they continued to play with the dancing ribbons getting some exercise running around the yard.  The ribbons are well made and will stand up to many months of play!

GIVEAWAY

One winner will receive the a set of six dancing ribbons!

Great Gift Ideas for Mom from Red Envelope {$75 Giveaway}

Heads Up!  Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 13th…just two short weeks away.  Do you have a gift for your Mom?  Don’t get stuck buying something impersonal from a local convenient store. Check out the thoughtful and unique selection of gift ideas for Mothers Day from Red Envelope.

I have been a long time customer of Red Envelope and have honestly loved every piece I have received.  For this review, I selected the silver crescent and pearl earrings as a Mother’s Day treat for myself!  About the product:

Suggesting a new moon and its embracing gesture, the shape of these artisan-inspired earrings provides both nurturing comfort and style. Each silver crescent drops from a simple hook and surrounds an iridescent mother-of-pearl disc. Exclusively from RedEnvelope.

The earrings arrived today in a beautiful red box with white ribbon.  I immediately knew they would be perfect for my anniversary dinner with my husband, so out of the box they came!  I was a little afraid that the earrings would be too heavy, but they were quite comfortable.

If you are looking for great gift ideas for Mom, check out the customized birthstone jewelry or even the personalized hand stamped necklaces.  I have never been disappointed by any item ordered from Red Envelope!  The silver crescent and pearl earrings pictured here can be purchased for $89.95.

Neatnik Saucer High Chair Cover: Review and Giveaway

One of the many things I have learned from having young children is that when we do get up the courage to go out to eat it definitely can’t be a fancy place.  Having a one year old that likes to throw food on the floor along with all of her toys, crayons and coloring sheets limits our selection of establishments.  We have had different types of highchair covers in the past but the Neatnik Saucer is the king of all high chair ‘covers.’  The Neatnik is in a class all by itself, it is far superior to ANYTHING that you have ever seen before.  I wasn’t to sure about it when I first received it, but I decided to give it a try and boy was I impressed.   There are so many wonderful features to the saucer I don’t know where to start.

We received the Rome which is black on the bottom and white on the top.  The black part is the only part that actually touches the highchair itself which has not yet gotten that dirty look to it.  The white surface on top is wonderful for your little one to draw his masterpiece.  My daughter used the crayons that came with the Saucer as well as the standard restaurant crayons and drew until her little heart was content.  When we were ready to eat I took a baby wipe to clean the surface of all the crayola markings which came up with ease.

Like most one year old babies there is nothing neat about a meal.  The saucer kept all of the food on her ‘tray.’  I couldn’t believe my eyes when I got up from the table and there was nothing on the floor not a single crumb.  I was so excited and actually wasn’t embarrassed leaving the restaurant.  Other great features about the Neatnik are the suction cups on the bottom.  You simply unfold in the highchair and suction cup the front to the table.  No matter how hard she tried she was unable to pull the suction cups off the table.  There are also velcro on the sides for your child’s favorite toy or pacifier.

The hardest part about the saucer was learning how to fold it, so I watched the online tutorial and after a few tries I was a pro at fitting it back into the little bag  for easy portability.  I actually look forward to going out and being able to use it because it makes life so much easier.  Last weekend we used it and I counted six people who asked me where they could get one; I actually think one lady wanted me to sell it to her!  With the Neatnik Saucer you are now free to eat at the fanciest restaurant in town.  Happy dining!!!

One winner will receive a Neatnik Saucer of their own!

Summer’s Closet Dolly and Me Apron Set {Giveaway and Coupon Code}

My daughter, like me, loves to get in the kitchen and cook.  Often times she won’t want to change clothes before we start pulling out sprinkles, icing, and all the other things she likes to get messy with in the kitchen.  Thankfully, she now has an ADORABLE new apron from Summer’s Closet!

From the website:  “Summer’s Closet is a boutique that specializes in one of a kind handmade clothing and items for your home.  All items are hand made in the USA. Each piece is designed by our designers and made to order.  Our new line Mommy, Dolly, and Me is intended to help you fill the void of wholesome, quality products for you, and your family.  We created our Mommy, Dolly, and Me line to foster a bond between mother and child and to give children help to get back to wholesome, creative, and imaginative play.”

Emily’s apron arrived just in time for us to make cupcakes that we needed for a school snack.  Emily wanted a friend to help, so luckily, Summer’s Closet sent an apron for McKenna too! Both aprons are very well made, with sturdy stitching at the seams, and high quality fabric. We loved the cherries print on both aprons and Emily loved how hers was personalized!

Emily is whipping up cupcakes......with a little help from McKenna.

Summer’s Closet offers some really cute things for baby, dolls, your little ones, and even Mom. I think one of the cutest things is the Cinderella’s Rag Dress for dress-up!  Beyond the dress-up box, check out what Summer’s Closet has to offer for Holidays, Accessories, and more!

Summer’s Closet is offering our readers 15% off online if you use the code THANKS15 when prompted.  With summer approaching, this is a great opportunity to stock up on some precious things at a great price.  Who knows, with a Summer’s Closet apron and a little practice, maybe your cutie will be cooking dinner for you soon!

Similac SimplySmart Bottles {Giveaway}

With both of my daughters, I was able to breastfeed them for around 6 months.  Upon my return to work, I was able to pump enough breastmilk to last a few more months, but I was very concerned about bottle feeding.  I searched for a bottle that would feel most like Mom but also had a stellar venting system as my little one suffered from a reflux disorder.  Our bottle days are now over (bittersweet, right?) but I would have loved to try out the new Similac SimplySmart Bottle system!

With 85 years of infant feeding expertise, Similac enlisted the help of over 2,500 Moms to design a bottle that addresses feeding challenges including leaks, bubbles and fussiness and gas.  The result?  SimplySmart!

  • Nipple: The naturally shaped nipple is designed to be more like mom for feeding between breast and bottle.
  • Intellivent: This exclusive venting system is designed to minimize baby’s air intake for less fussiness and gas.
  • SmartClose: Found only in Similac SimplySmart, the SmartClose reveals a blue shield when the top is secured to prevent leaks and assure the bottle is closed.
  • EasyMix: This innovative mixing device is only found in Similac SimplySmart and is designed to help reduce bubbles and clumps.
  • Similac On-the-Go Powder Cap: A unique cap keeps powder and bottle together and holds enough powder formula for up to one 8-ounce bottle to help busy moms on the go. Cap sold separately.

These new BPA free bottles are available at Walmart in 4- and 8-ounce sizes with variable flow rate nipples (that was essential with my reflux babies).

GIVEAWAY

One winner will receive two 8oz Similac SimplySmart Bottles, one 4oz Similac SimplySmart Bottle (for newborns and smaller feedings), two Similac On-the-Go Powder Caps and five Similac SimplePac Coupons.  The prize will be provided by Abbott Nutrition.

Celebrate the Spirit of Play with Pampers and Kerri Walsh {Giveaway}

Want to know a little secret?  I have always wanted to be an ice skater (like Michelle Kwan) in the Olympics.  But given the fact that I live in New Orleans where the weather rarely gets below freezing and there are no ice skating rinks, it is no surprise that my dream would never become reality.  Nonetheless, I absolutely love watching the Olympics and cheering on Team USA!

The 2012 Summer Olympics will be held in London and Kerri Walsh, two time Olympic Gold medalist, will be representing the United States again in Beach Volleyball.  To celebrate the unique spirit of play, Pampers has partnered with Kerri  to help introduce Limited Edition “USA” diapers and wipes, which will be hitting shelves this April.  Your little one can help cheer on the team by sporting diapers featuring a “USA” print with red, white and blue stars and stripes while still exploring and conquering their world through play.

GIVEAWAY

One winner will receive a “Spirit of Play” Pack complete with Kerri’s must-haves for Summer including:

  • Sports duffle bag
  • Box of Pampers Limited Edition “USA” Diapers
  • Pampers Splashers diapers
  • Infant SPIRIT OF PLAY shirt
  • Signed mini volleyball for baby toss
  • Beach shovel and pale
  • Pampers Wipes

Help Pfister Revitalize Homes with Rebuilding Together {Blog Hop!}

Friends of Pfister In late August of 2005, my life changed forever.  Hurricane Katrina took my home, my husband’s job, my security and mercilessly destroyed my City.  In the midst of the tragedy, I was comforted by many friends, family and even strangers.  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be on the receiving end of such generosity and compassion.  Since that day, I have done my best to give back to those in need and I couldn’t be happier to call my readers to action this time!

I have been fortunate enough to be involved with a great charity here in the New Orleans area, Rebuilding Together.  This leading national non-profit works to revitalize neighborhoods by providing free home repairs for those in need.  Volunteers do everything from yard work to painting and kitchen repairs to flooring!  It has been amazing to see what people can accomplish in such a short amount of time!

In honor of all the hard work done by Rebuilding Together, the great people of Pfister would like to make their job a little easier.  For every new “like” on Pfister’s Facebook page, $1 worth of brand new Pfister faucets will be donated to the organization up to $20,000 worth of product for homes in need.  During the month of April, which happens to be National Rebuilding Month, you can help, too!

Here’s how you can help Pfister and Rebuilding Together reach their goal:

Have Fun With Original Donut Shop Coconut Mocha! {Keurig Giveaway}

Living in NOLA, it isn’t hard to believe that fun usually involves food.  Every party and every special occasion (yes, even funerals) revolves around the cuisine.  It is by no mistake that most family gatherings take place in the kitchen when you live in a City known for it’s food…and fun!  Our parties are loud and our food is spicy…New Orleanians have a zest for life that is unmatched in just about any other City.

When the parties are this good, you need a fun dessert to end the night.  Here, no party is complete with some traditional bread pudding, bananas foster or beignets served with the perfect cup of coffee.  In my home, we are attached to our Keurig Single Cup Brewer which provides fast and delicious K-Cup portion packs.  Over the past year, I have been fortunate enough to be a Green Mountain Coffee Ambassador which has allowed me to try a ton of different K-Cup portion pack flavors.  Our favorite by far, has been the Original Donut Shop varieties…who doesn’t love donuts?!

This month, we tried the brand new Original Donut Shop Coconut Mocha K-Cup portion packs.  My husband couldn’t wait to try it as he has loved all of the other Donut Shop flavors, and this one was not different!  He mentioned that the coconut was the dominant flavor so if you are not a fan of that taste, this is not the coffee for you.  The Original Donut Shop Coconut Mocha K-Cup portion packs will be available this April so you can make the call yourself!

So, how fun are you?  Can you handle such a fun coffee?  The good people over at Green Mountain Coffee would love for you to take this short survey to find out (no email addresses or sign-ups required)!

Let’s Rock With Strummin’ Ernie and Singin’ Cookie Monster {Giveaway}

My son has definitely hit the age when his imagination starts to run wild. He loves to sing and dance and pretend he is on a stage for the world to see. Having the Let’s Rock Elmo has been so much fun in our house. When we received the Strummin’ Ernie and Singin’ Cookie Monster needless to say we were all a little excited. Having the entire band made even better shows for my son to put on for us.

The Singin’ Cookie Monster comes with his very own microphone and sings “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” The closer you push the microphone to Cookie Monster’s mouth the louder he sings. We put Elmo and Cookie Monster next to each other and Elmo does the “clap your hands” part of the song. It was exciting to see how they interacted with each other.

Strummin’ Ernie was also loads of fun to play with. Just move his hand up and down over the guitar and he plays you a nice tune like “Old MacDonald.” When Ernie and Elmo face one another they also interact with one another. My only wish is that they all interacted together to form one rock band. The kids walked around the house each holding either Cookie Monster or Ernie and were playing their different tunes.

With Easter right around the corner this would be great in your little one’s basket even if they don’t have Let’s Rock Elmo they are still fun to play with alone.  Both are available for just $19.99!
