Little Mommy “Doctor Mommy” Doll Encourages Roll Play {Giveaway}

My youngest daughter, age 4, has recently become very interested in her baby dolls and role playing games.  I am constantly amazed by her imagination and creativity and definitely want to encourage her.  In particular, she loves pretending to be a doctor and making everyone in the family, even the stuffed animals, feel better.  So I knew when we were asked to review the Little Mommy “Doctor Mommy” doll, my youngest would be thrilled.

Mattel’s Little Mommy Doctor Mommy Doll is a responsive doll that offers much more than the traditional baby doll creating a realistic role play experience.  Retailing for $49.99, this doll lets your little doctor know that she doesn’t feel well and will prompt your child for a specific action.  For example, the doll will cough, sniffle or say phrases like, “I feel kind of hot,” or “My throat hurts.”

Using any of the provided instruments such as a stethoscope, a thermometer, a medicine bottle, a shot or a band-aid, your child can make the doll feel all better.  To make your child feel like a real doctor, the kit even comes with a carry case and an identification badge.  While your little doctor is trying to solve the problem, the doll responds to each instrument differently.  A heartbeat is heard with the stethoscope, slurping when administered medicine and even a long “ahhhhh” when using the tongue depressor.  I love that there are no sound effects when a shot is given as my child is already afraid of shots!

Another great feature of the Little Mommy “Doctor Mommy” Doll is that your child can see that they are making a difference!  When the doll has fever, her forehead glows red.  After correctly administering the “purple medicine,” the red glow fades and the doll feels all better!  My daughter squeals with a sense of pride as the doll exclaims, “I love you, Mommy!”  I was amazed at how many phrases are in this doll’s vocabulary!

This doll is recommended for children over the age of 2 and comes in both Caucasian and African American.  It does require 3 AA batteries which are not included however there is an ON/OFF switch to save battery life when the doll is not in use.  My daughter is having a great time with Mattel’s Little Mommy “Doctor Mommy” Doll and I would highly recommend that you add this to your holiday wish list!
