I’m a LifeLock Ambassador!

Yesterday, I will admit that not only did I stuff my turkey, I stuffed my face!  My whole family gathered to enjoy a wonderful lunch at my brothers home and it was divine!  After dinner, everyone chatted about their Black Friday plans and which deals they can’t wait to snag.  Because not only myself but other members of my family have been the victim of identity theft in the past, we all expressed our worries about shopping in store and online this holiday season.

Fortunately, this year I am happy to announce that I have been selected as a LifeLock Ambassador!  Founded in 2005, LifeLock is so much more than a credit monitoring service.  As a member, when LifeLock gets any indication that your personal information has been compromised, you will receive an alert via email or phone.  When your personal information is stolen, you know that time is of the essence to minimize the damages so I love the LifeLock alert system.  In fact, in the unfortunate situation that your information is indeed stolen, the LifeLock team will work with you until your good name is restored.

As a LifeLock Ambassador, I have received a one year membership and could not wait to get started.  Filling out the information was incredibly easy and I couldn’t believe how fast the LifeLock team worked for me.  Within 24 hours, they had already submitted a request to remove my name from pre-approved credit card offers (a source of potential identity theft) and a list of the registered sex offenders in my zip code which was unsettling but great information to have on hand.

Because I will be on the hunt for the perfect gifts for family and friends in the next few weeks, I have been soaking up all of the great tips for safe shopping on the LifeLock for Life Sweepstakes all while entering to win great prizes, too!  For example, LifeLock suggests that you hang on to holiday purchase receipts to compare against your credit card bill.  If you have proof of your purchases, you will be better equipped to fight anything fishy that appears on your statement.  And just because you are shopping from your phone, don’t think you are safe.  In 2011, a 76% increase in malware targeted at Android devices was cited which can be a source of identity theft.

If you are looking for more tips on how to keep your information safe this holiday season, join the #LifeLock Twitter Party today at 3pm PST.  Simply follow @LifeLock to learn great tips and a chance to win $1,000 in Best Buy gift cards plus year long LifeLock memberships!  Don’t forget to RSVP to let us know you are coming!

This post is the opinion of the Experimental Mommy.  While compensated for my time and effort, all opinions remain 100% mine.
