“Colorwheel” by Justine Dorsey: CD Review and Giveaway

As a Mom of both 2 and 5 year old daughters, I can tell you that I take great care in monitoring what they watch on television on listen to on the radio.  My five year old is especially impressionable now as she is just beginning to understand what it means to be “popular” and “cool”….much sooner than I expected.  I am trying hard to instill a sense of self confidence and self worth in both my daughters and I believe you just can’t start soon enough!  Because I know how my husband and I intend to raise my daughters, we search for positive role models in society for our kids.  It is amazing how negative and inappropriate some “kids music” can be!  I find myself having to screen the CDs of these child celebrities before allowing my daughters to listen.

One CD that has truly passed the test is “Colorwheel” by Justine Dorsey.  This 14 year old singer just released this debut album on which she arranged and wrote two of the songs.  She also currently stars in the TV show, Brothers and Sisters, and has acted in theater such as Brigitta in “Sound of Music” and Felicity in “American Girl Theater.”  This multi-talented artist has also recently been nominated by the 2010 L.A. Music Awards for Best Singer/Songwriter of the Year!  She is the youngest to have ever been nominated in this category!  Congrats, Justine!

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of “Colrowheel” for review.  My 5 year old could not wait to listen!  Once the CD was playing, both daughters took their shoes off and started dancing and twirling around the house.  They both really liked it, and I admit, I liked it, too!  My favorite track is “Shut My Big Mouth” which can be downloaded for free from Justine’s website!  IN fact, you can purchase her entire CD from iTunes for only $9.99!  It really is a great CD to play in the car!
