Fresh Express Salad Story: Contest and Giveaway!

As you get older and let more people into your “inner circle”, you realize that everyone you meet has their own story….their own experiences that mold them into who they are today.  But have you ever stopped to think that the food you buy at the grocery has a story, too?  I know it sounds odd, but somebody has to produce to food you eat, right?  Who does it?  How do they do it?  Where does it all take place?

The Food Channel has claimed that Food Sourcing/Vetting will be a top trend for 2010.  Consumers want to know more about what’s inside the package before feeding their families.  Fresh Express, a source of pre-washed, pre-cut salads has listened to the trend and cannot wait to tell you about your Salad Story!  From the press release:

freshexpresssmallFresh Express® wants to give you the “inside story” on what’s inside their bagged salads. Their new online Leaf Locator™ tool, introduced today, tells you where the leafy greens in your particular bag of salad were grown. The Leaf Locator tool lives on a new micro-site created by Fresh Express called “Your Salad Story™” which shows how their salads are cared for from field to store.

This information is revealed by entering ID codes found on Fresh Express bagged salads into the Leaf Locator tool at  (cole slaw and organic salads excluded). Foodies to picky eaters alike are invited to choose from 20 varieties of Fresh Express salads that are tracked by the Leaf Locator, totaling nearly 50 million bags each month.”

I took the opportunity to pick up a bag of Fresh Express Romaine Lettuce and use the Leaf Locator tool.  It was very easy to use (only two codes to enter) and within seconds, I learned that my bag of salad had been made in Arizona and Florida!  Pretty cool!  Browsing around the site, I also found some great recipes that I can wait to try out!
