FLOR: Review and Giveaway

hypothesis A new area rug from FLOR will be a great way to spruce up our living room while not locking us in to one particular color scheme or style.

materials

One 25 tile are rug in Modern Mix (Acorn color scheme), and a laminate floor that was in need of a pick-me-up!  About FLOR:

FLORlogo“Launched in the spring of 2003 and based in Elmhurst, Illinois (just outside Chicago), FLOR is a line of design-inspired carpet tiles for the home that lets you create unique area rugs, runners or wall-to-wall carpet designs quickly and easily.  FLOR is a design system of 19.7-inch (50cm) squares that come in a range of beautiful colors, textures and patterns – all designed to coordinate together so you can mix-and-match styles to create custom designs to fit any space that reflect your own unique design personality. Design it yourself or let one of our FLOR experts help you – the choice is yours.”

results After Hurricane Katrina, my husband and I replaced the ruined flooring with new laminate.  We decided to splurge a bit on the area rug, but we figured it would last us for a while, right?  WRONG!  With two small children and an aging dog, the rug has definitely seen it’s better days just 4 short years later.  Sick over the fact that our “investment” needed replacing, I started to search the Internet for better options.  That’s when I found FLOR.

Several features drew me to this company.  The rugs consist of modular floor tiles that you can customize to create any size or pattern you desire.  Do you like to change the decor in your room frequently?  This is the rug for you!  Simply change out a few tiles in order to create a whole new look for much less money than buying a whole new rug.  Another benefit to modular tiles is that if one tile becomes soiled or stained, you can purchase a small section to replace it!  Now THAT is versatile!

IMG_0601Upon receiving our FLOR tiles, I will admit that I was a bit skeptical.  Can tiles really look like a solid rug?  Would they stay together while vacuuming?  The answer…..YES!  FLORdots (while at first glance appear to be stickers) are actually non-toxic adhesive dots that hold your FLOR tiles together.  You do not have to adhere the tiles to your floor, only to each other!  You can add as many or as few FLOR tiles as necessary to complete your desired look.

Assembling the rug (ours is 25 tiles) took about one hour.  My husband unboxed the tiles and followed the pattern (you do not have to get a predetermined pattern…let your imagination run wild!) using the FLORdots to hold them in place.  It was extremely easy and completely sold him on the company!  Once the rug was fully assembled, I vacuumed the tiles and it stayed together perfectly.  In fact, we had an overnight guest the day after we assembled the rug, and she was amazed that the rug was NOT one solid piece!

hypothesis

Overall, I love my new FLOR rug.  It was so easy to assemble and the fact that I can replace one section makes it worth it’s weight in gold!  Take a look at FLOR’s Spring catalog to get an idea of all the fresh new looks you can create in your home!  The possibilities are endless!
