hypothesis The new Oreck Halo Germ-Killing UV-C Vacuum will make this busy Mom’s life easier by creating carpets that not only look shampooed, but by providing a healthier carpet for my family.

One Oreck Halo Vacuum, my old area rug that has seen better days (including an aging dog and many child illnesses), and me!   About the Oreck Halo Germ-Killing UV-C Vacuum:

oreck“The Oreck Halo vacuum cleaner features two powerful motors. The first motor drives the powerful roller brush that agitates the carpet, bringing debris and germs up and exposing them to the UV-C light that can kill them. The second motor generates incredible suction; dirt and microbes are quickly trapped inside the HEPA13 filter bag.

The Oreck Halo vacuum cleaner picks up dirt and debris in virtually one pass, and works great on any floor surface – carpet, tile, even hardwood floors. Attachments include a 13 ft. detachable hose, crevice tool, and brush that quickly click-lock into place and let you easily clean stairs, drapes, furniture, corners, and all kinds of fabrics.”

results Last Christmas, my entire family came down with the stomach virus.  It was very much NOT fun.  This holiday season, I was determined to keep us all healthy so we could enjoy the festivities and the company of family and friends.  I made the girls wash their hands frequently, used hand sanitizer, scrubbed my bathrooms, and did just about anything I could think of to try and keep the germs away.

So, you can imagine how excited I was to be able to do a product review on the new Oreck Halo vacuum cleaner!  Confused?  How do vacuums and germs have anything to do with one another?  Well, this vacuum not only removes dirt from your home, it kills germs, too!  And the even better news is that it does it all in ONE easy step!  The UV-C light chamber kills many of the germs, bacteria, dust-mites and flea eggs that plague or carpets in a quick, chemical-free fashion.

Weighing in at just 17 pounds, I noticed immediately that it was lighter than my current vacuum (a definite plus in my book!).  In just a few moments, I plugged in the 29ft. cord and was off and running.  I like that with just the touch of a single button, I can change the height of the brushes which allows me to move from carpet to hardwood in a snap.

Pushing the vacuum was very easy, too!  I did not find it hard to maneuver at all.  The attachments (gotta love the 13 ft hose) allowed me to easily clean my fan blades and my couches.  The vacuum did an excellent job removing the dog hair that my beagle leaves behind and I was comforted knowing that the UV-C light was taking care of the germs too little for me to see trapping them in the HEPA13 filter.

hypothesis

Overall, I really liked the Oreck Halo vacuum.  It was easy to use, maneuver, and did a thorough job and collecting the dirt on my floor.  I also love the peace of mind the Oreck Halo gives by killing germs with it’s UV-C light and trapping them in the HEPA13 filter. This upright vacuum does require the purchase of specialized bags.  The Oreck Halo can be purchased directly from Oreck for $599.99.
