hypothesis Because my husband and I are both on weight loss programs, we are looking for ways to cut our calories.  Silk Soymilk is a great way to lower our calorie intake while providing heart health advantages.

One half gallon of Silk Soymilk, a recipe for frozen fudge chip freeze and a very skeptical family.   About Silk Heart Health soymilk:

Silk Heart Health is a new soymilk product that combines the heart-health benefits of soy protein and plant sterols. Both have been proven to help reduce the risk of cholesterol and heart disease.
A recent study found that people who enjoyed three servings of Silk Heart Health per day for four weeks, as part of a sensible diet, lowered their cholesterol by 7%.

results While the health benefits of Silk Heart Health are wonderful, my husband nor I have high cholesterol.  Since this was our first experience with soymilk, I decided to find a tasty recipe that included the vanilla soymilk and try to win over my family.  I ran across a great recipe in my Hungry Girl 200 under 200 cookbook, and decided to give it a go!

Ingredients:

1/4 cup light vanilla soymilk (we used Silk!)

One 25 calorie diet hot cocoa packet

1 tablespoon sugar-free chocolate syrup

1 tablespoon mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 packs of no-calorie sweetener

1 cup of crushed ice

2 tablespoons of Fat-Free Reddi-wip

Mix the cocoa with 1/2 cup warm water until dissolved.  Add to blender with all other ingredients except Reddi-wip. Blend for 30 seconds on high speed.  Pour into tall glass and top with Reddi-wip and a few chocolate chips.

Let me tell you, for a chocolate milk-shake type beverage for only 138 calories, I was in heaven!  It was very rich and chocolaty and NONE of my family (who would have turned their noses up at soymilk) noticed that their regular whole milk (which ads a TON of calories to this recipe if substituted) had been swapped for Silk Light Vanilla soymilk!  In fact, my husband was so shocked that he decided to try a glass of soymilk on it’s own with dinner and enjoyed it.
