Alice: Review and $500 Giveaway!

hypothesis Alice, a new way to manage your household essentials, will make my life much easier by saving me time and money at the grocery store (if I ever have to go again!).

materials One start-up company called Alice and a $50 shopping spree!  About Alice:

alicelogo

We’re a new online platform that will disrupt the traditional retail model so you can better manage your household essentials. In short, we’ll make sure you never run out of toilet paper again.  Our unique service provides big-box savings, free shipping with every order, and a convenient offering so you never run out of household goods or need to run to the store last-minute again. Your favorite products, from those you recognize to those that you can’t always find on the traditional store shelf, will be delivered direct to your door. You’ll find great prices without buying in bulk or paying a membership fee.

methods The first step to exploring the benefits of using Alice was to create an online account.  It was very simple and completely FREE.  Once my account was set up and validated, I was able to enter the site and start searching for incredible deals.  I searched through many different products to see if I could find all of my favorite brands and compared the prices to those I usually pay at my local grocery.  After I spent my gift card, I was able to easily check out and await the arrival of my items.

results I was honestly a little skeptical about this service at first.  I have heard of services that deliver your groceries to your doorstep, but I never imagined I could be “that Mom” who could afford the convenience.  So each week, I drag my kids to the grocery and attempt to get out of there without any major meltdowns or having to sell my right arm to afford diapers.

The generous people at Alice offered me a $50 gift card to try out the service.  I really didn’t think it would go far (does $50 ever really buy much these days anyway??).  As a Mom of a 1 year old, I decided to search first for diapers.  Can you believe that 9 pages of options were available?  I quickly located my favorite brand (Pampers) and placed the box in my cart.  To my surprise, Alice had located a $1.00 off coupon and applied it to my order (Score!).  Next, I found an awesome section called “Shop the Best Deals.”  My advice:  START HERE!  I was able to find Gerber 1st foods, a 2 pack, for only 98 cents!!

Getting excited, I searched every last page of the “best deal” section and was able to find great values on items such as razor blades, toddler snacks, breakfast cereal bars, toilet paper and gum.  By the time I was done, I had racked up 11 items and saved over $18.00 in coupons that I DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO CLIP!  And the real kicker….shipping is FREE for ANY dollar amount you purchase!

In just 2 short days, my products were at my doorstep.  I didn’t have to pack up the kids, clip coupons, leave the house, lug heavy bags or stand in long check-out lines.  I.  AM.  IN.  LOVE.

Will you marry me, Alice?

summary Ok, I know it seems like I am getting carried away with Alice, but I honestly loved every minute of this new website.  It is so much more than an online drugstore because you can actually budget and plan your future purchases.  Alice has a “My Products” feature where you can add products you typically buy and select the frequency with which you tend to buy them.  With this information, Alice will sort your products and let you know when you are due for a re-order!  And for geeky people like me, there are some really neat graphs that track your purchases and show you where your money is going.

I highly recommend using Alice, the Netflix of groceries!  Saving money AND time?  Does it get any better?  I definitely plan on returning…it sure beats the local grocery store!
