Keurig Platinum Brewer: Review and Giveaway

Welcome to my first day of honoring Dads with the “Suit Up for Father’s Day” Event!  I know we are all starting to shop for Dad, and if your husband is anything like mine, he is NO help when it comes to presents!  So, I have put together a few items that I think would make excellent gifts for Dad (and even have some great giveaways as well!).

Giveaway #1

hypothesis The Keurig Platinum Brewing System will make my morning routine easier!  I’ve heard a lot about the single cup brewers, so I am looking forward to seeing if it really is THAT easy!

materials One Keurig Platinum Brewer, one K-Cup of your choice, a mug and a thirst!  Features from the website:

“The Platinum Brewing System is Keurig’s best single-cup brewing system for your home. This premium model offers discerning coffee drinkers the widest range of five cup size options for brewing.

The Platinum offers the full spectrum of features including Auto On/Off, Digital Clock, Adjustable Temperature Control and the “Set Your Favorite Cup Size” option. The largest available 60 oz. removable water reservoir holds up to ten cups before refilling and the removable drip tray allows for easy cleaning and the use of travel mugs. The sleek, award-winning design is a unique footprint among Keurig’s line of home brewing systems and includes both a blue lit water reservoir and blue lit LCD display.”

methods When Keurig sent me the Platinum Brewer, I think my husband was more excited than anyone!  As soon as the box arrived, he was asking if he could open it!  Following the set-up cycle (which took maybe 10 minutes), we were ready to brew.  Dear hubby set the clock, brew temperature, cup size, and selected a decaf Caribou K-Cup.  The method was as easy as pressing “Brew” on the display and within seconds, he had a fresh cup of coffee in hand.

Check out how easy it is to make your favorite coffee, tea or hot chocolate!

results Both my husband and I are extremely impressed by the Keurig Platinum Brewer!  The set-up and  use was incredibly easy and the taste of the final product was excellent.  I was shocked by the fact that my husband could brew a cup of coffee immediately followed by me brewing a cup of tea, and my tea did not even have a hint of coffee flavor!  We had a great time looking through the various blends of coffee and varieties of teas offered in K-Cups.  Ever wondered how the K-Cup works?  Check out a product demo!

The only improvement we noted was that we wish the K-Cups would come in a chicory variety….after all, we are in New Orleans!  What’s coffee without the eye opening chicory?!? Coffee will certainly come in handy if you decide to pursue that supply chain management degree online!

summary The Keurig is hands down my new favorite appliance in my kitchen!  I have found so many uses for it other than a good old-fashioned cup of coffee.  For example, if no K-Cup is added, you can just get hot water at a pre-set temperature.  I have found this useful for making oatmeal or grits in the morning with no waiting (perfect for impatient toddlers!).  This is also ideal for dinner parties because everyone does not have to drink the same type of coffee.
