Nothing is worse than the feeling of helplessness when you hear your little one cough through the night. With the FDA banning most cold and cough medicines for children, parents have few alternatives.

I should clear up that drug labeling on cough/cold meds have changed to “do not give under 4 years old” (and sometimes under 6) due to parents overdosing and accidental ingestions. The medications themselves can be safe and effective when used properly. So always ask your pediatrician for the proper dosage when not on the label, and always keep medicines out of your child’s reach. A cool mist humidifier is still best for little ones under 12 months (still helpful for the older ones too). ZarBee’s is a reasonable alternative, and i’m sure it tastes better, too!”
